How To: Ombre hair

In the summer of 2011 I decided to ombre my own hair, after a bit of trial and error I got the perfect set up, and did this a few times until last year when I got a little sick of it, this was mainly after seeing loads of year 9's, it's a little bit of a thing that when the year 8's start doing things it's usually a bad thing (I present the case of over filling in eyebrows). So here are the simple steps I sued to create the perfect Ombre!

1. Put a towel around shoulders.

2. Middle part hair and brush hair.

3. Follow instructions on dye box.

4. Lather dye onto bottoms of hair, to where you want, I would always go a little lower with the dye. it tends to graduate upwards.

5. Open a window, in my experience the best dyes are the smelliest.

6. Keep on for however long the box says, then rinse off.

7. I think the effects are usually greater when this is done more than once, you end up with more of a gradient than a harsh line.

I after many attempts, in my experience the best product is L'Oreal Perfect Blonde Creme Maximum Bleaching Kit, which can be found here: http://www.boots.com/en/LOreal-Perfect-Blonde-Creme-Maximum-Bleaching-Kit_929817/ however I did Ombre my hair before the big rush of popularity, so I have no idea about the new specific ombre kits. Also I always ombred with my friend so used half the bottle.

It's worth noting that results may vary as I have curly, thick brunette hair, so it's quite likely to take well, however I do have friends that did the same with blonde hair and less course hair and they've had positive results too!

Here are some pictures!

I want to do something fun with my hair this summer now, looking back at these photos, does anyone have any ideas?

Textiles A2 final Product

I'm coming to the end of my school year, which I'd rather not think about because I'm pretty sure i have Peter Pan Syndrome at the moment. I've recently finished my A-level Textiles coursework, and although if I'm honest I value the written coursework part of it the most, just mainly because the sheer amount of the work becomes a bit of an achievement, I thought I'd show you some photos of my friend "Modelling" it (messing around basically). I think I should point out that the aim of A-level textiles is to show as many techniques as possible, I'm aware that it's not that great and the white flowers look a little out of place, that is a sneaky attempt to cover up that night mare of a yoke. I'm sharing my work because when I create something it I instantly start to dislike it, I'm not sure if it's because most of the work I create is for school so has connotations of work and exams, but either way I'm going to try look at it as something i spent time creating and it being the product of hard work I should not be so hard on myself.

A word of advice, never ever by a vintage vogue pattern, it's an unshakable plague.

Also, big thanks to Emily from http://theheadlessstylist.blogspot.co.uk/ and Allison from http://afashionfiles.blogspot.co.uk/ for helping me with my target market interviews, you should visit their blogs, they're pretty great!

Thanks for reading! Cassie xx

University Open day and Swimming Gala Outfit of the Day

I went to a University open day today and genuinely enjoyed it, I haven't been so keen on the idea so far but I'm actually quite looking forward to uni now, that's hoping that I manage to pass my A-levels and get in! I then went to support my swimming club at a competition after and found this outfit ridiculously inappropriate to wear as everyone else was in leggings and I was sweating buckets in a long sleeve t-shirt. Anyway here's some pictures of what I wore, I managed to get some photos in my garden before it started flooding again.

Brouges- Newlook
Skirt- Vintage
Belt- no idea
Top- Next, I got it when I was 8 and now it fits me!
Jacket-Topshop

If you have any Outfit of the days please let me know I actually love them, and kind of like attempting to do my own. I'm going to be at Bristol University for the next week, so i may do OOTD's for that, and I will be bored so please comment to keep me entertained.

P.S IF ANYONE HAS ANY INDUSTRIAL RETAIL CONTACTS THAT I CANT USED FOR MY TEXTILES COURSEWORK OR DOESN'T MIND ME EMAILING THEM ON TRENDS ETC PLEASE LET ME KNOW IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP!

Emma Stone Red Carpet Style

There is SO much I want to blog about recently, I've simultaneously gained obsessions with Karlie Kloss's topshop editorial and vintage Black Eyed Peas albums, "My Humps" being a favourite.

I'm also loving Emma Stone as always, she's always on point with style and dresses, i'm not sure if there's anyone else on the earth who can pull off every hair colour like she does! Anyway heres a collection of some of my favourite looks from the red carpet and events etc...

In Lanvin at Orange's British Film Academy Awards

In Elie Saab for the London premier of The Amazing Spiderman

In Lanvin at the golden globes.

In Mendel

iufe;ifrvgrfbfibv omg how cool does she look at the People's Choice Awards in Gucci?!

I'm in love with this Emilio Pucci dress, the colour suits her so much and she looks amazingly elegant

I'm not sure where the last pictures from but I thought It was a perfect example of why I envy her talent her looks her style her humour and her boyfriend. she pretty much has it all and on top of that Andrew Garfield!

What's your favourite Emma stone look or film? Also what's your favourite Black Eyed Peas lyric? Mine's "What you gon' do with all that junk all that junk inside your trunk?". I'll leave you on that poignant note.

Bleaching and distressing jean shorts

Every single high street shop is selling high-waisted cut off distressed jean shorts this summer.with them all looking the same and everyone having them I wanted to have a pair of shorts that were different, I really like a lot of the pastel coloured ones so I brought a lilac pair from Primark for £5 and decided to do some work on them myself to avoid having the same shorts as everyone else.

                                                                    The Original shorts.

I then unpicked the stitching on the hems of the shorts and cut them down to a size I wanted them. Next I filled a industrial spray bottle with bleach. I used Morrisons own bleach and an old bottle.
The spray bottle .
I sprayed the bleach and concentrated on the bottoms of the jeans, I did it over some newspaper and should probably have worn gloves as my hands reeked afterwards. I washed them and hug them up and saw that the bottoms had turned pink so i decided that once they dried I would bleach them again, and create a sort of dip dyed effect.
Washing the  and drying the shorts.
I dyed them again concentrating on the bottoms and got a white colour. Next I distressed the jeans with scissors, sandpaper and a grater. In the end they turned out like this.

                                                                           Finished

All in all i don't think they look too bad, I want to distress them more but i think they'll get a little rougher looking after they've been washed. I really hate the gold buttons so want to change them, but they're quite attatched so I'm still thinking that through. I also wanted to try some braiding on the pockets as I saw some in H&M, but I have a tendency to over do things like this!

I really want to buy some more and do some other things, let me know what else I could try.

A belated "Outfit of the day " post

I'm like never on here anymore, I keep meaning to post, but I don't. I'd like to say I was busy revising for my ridicualously important As levels but if i'm honest I've just been wallowing in junk food and watching reality T.V. So here's some more awkward photos of me...

haha look at my boot-ay. this makes me want to do some bum reduction exercises.
Such an artistic photo of my sleeve!
Top: Charity shop
Trousers: H&M they are like 3/4 but you can't see.
Shoes were pink dolly shoes from Primark.

I'm really keen for the whole pastel colour blocking thing at the moment and pastel coloured jeans are everywhere so I jumped on the band wagon. My dad asked me what colour blocking was today and since he hasn't shut up about it, and has told me he considers himself to colour block everyday, I have no idea what I'm typing anymore so I should go and wallow in more food and watch more "Toddlers and Tiaras"

Hair Products I can't live without!

Amargan Oil!

John Fridas frizz ease I've actuially had this for a year and a half now, using sparingly 2k12!

I get a lot of comments on my hair, I'm not sure why. I think my hairs weird, sometimes It will be nice curly and other times frizzy, I just got my hair thinnned so I use less of the products above but I pretty much used them every day before, Amargan Oil is basically I cheap alternative I got off ebay instead of Moroccan Oil and Frizz ease is self explanatory really! They're both miracle workers on my hair especially as I swim alot and a lot of the time the chemicals dry out my hair. I try not to put heat on it but it doesn't always work. I also use dry shampoo but I'm too lazy to find that and take a photo of it.

What Products work on your hair? I actually need to try something new so sugestions would be appreciated!
